Elves

Elves are a very broad describtion for indiviaduals from very different places and timelines. Also, there are many names for elves, such as sidhe. Elves have been describen as many things and there are many different types of elves. Generally, elvenkind has a thing for nature and to the most extreme measures that is what binds them together. The next is a small list of things that have been said about elves:

Elves have pointed ears

This is true for some elves, but there are elves in this realm, that have not (also, some have altered their forms, so they look so much human, that you would take them being so. You would, of cause, notice that they are different in their behavior when you get to know them a little, but they would still look very human). Specifically the famous Silver Elves are members of this type of elves. They have not got pointed ears, but they still, of cause, are elves.

Elves are short

Well, this is true for some, but it is not a way of identifying an elf. There are short, slim humans, too.

Elves are tall

Ehrm... See above

Elves's eyes are larger

Generally speaking, yes. Most elves have bigger eyes than the normal human, but, as above, this is not a way of identifying an elf. (I won't say this again, as it is general. See bellow)

Elves are beings of \"pure light and air\"

Well, no. In their own opinion, elves are just as physical as humans.

Elves are immortal

One must almost laugh at people who still believe in this statement. You can understand that people in the middle ages and before thought that something could be "immortal". Fact is, that imortality is not possible in the physical matter. Sometime one must die. Even the worlds will die somewhen. Hey, why break your mind thinking of the term "neverending" when the mind we are equipped with cannot handle that thing?

Elves are magicians

No. Elves are not magicians. Look at the term "magick". What does that say? It means, generally speaking, use of a science not recogniced as a such by the scientists of the day (that is, in this world, the magazine "Science Week" and friends). What was exactly that just a few years ago? Yes, right: Astronomy. The Royal Astronomers of the middle age royal courts in Europe were seen to as magicians of some kind, as they could tell you (woohoo!!!) when the Sun would go away mid day! Well, it not that something like what the so-called "magick" of today is doing?

Physical form

Physically speaking, elves tend to follow a basic pattern. They are bipedal, just like humans, although in their original form (not their otherkin form, that have the characteristict of the race occupied) there tend to be a greater latitude for body parts that humans do not have, such as bird-like wings, antennae-like structures and horns. In general, elves tend to be either larger and thinner boned than humans, or smaller and thinner boned than humans. An elven ear tend to be in a pointed fashion, though this is not always so. Also, elven eyes mostly are almond shaped and larger than human eyes (there are different theories about the reasonfor this, and one of them go in the direction of the ability to see better in darker areas; a kind of night vision. Of cause the posibility that is simply so is also there). Generally speaking, the facial features of an elf tend to be finer than those of a human. Male elves can and often do wear a beard, even though these tend to be rather thin (very much like those of an oriental human man). The hair and skin of an elf very often, but not always, is fair. (this is bellow) It is possible for an elf to magickally alter minor physical attributes (such as eye color, shape and size, ear size and shape and so on), so please note, that there are no set rules of this whatsoever.

Subraces

The elven race is possibly one of the races of otherkin that have the biggest number of subraces. We have been trying to gather information on as many as possible of these races (and their habitat and home realms), but there seems to always be more...
