The Key to the OtherKin

aka. the OtherKey

Contents:

Introduction

The first thing you ask is of cause: What is the OtherKey? Well, to put it short it's a way of telling very compact and information packed who you are. This specific code has been deeply inspired by the Furry Code, which is made and maintained by Capt. Packrat (check this out @ http://www.personal.isat.com/captpackrat/furcode.htm). I must state at this point, that I (and the people wo have helped me) have tried very hard not to steal/ loan from other places (and especially without getting a permission to do it). It is hard to create a new code from scratch, but that is exactly what I have tried to do. Most of the modificator keys in the next section are from the Furry Code 1.3 (above), as I think they can hardly get any better (I can certainly not see how).

To create your OtherKey, simply work your way through this survey and answer whatever you think is nescesary/ we should know. If there is something you don't want to tell us about, just say so, and we won't ask. And if the options don't really suit you, just pick the one closest to your preferences (please tell us if you do so, so we can add your prefs the right place and we'll get back to you when that happen).

If you want to help out with making this more extensive, please e-mail me @ okit@leinir.dk. If you think there are errors in here, please do the same. If you want to ask me about life, please do so, too (maybe exept for telling me to get a life. I already have one; you don't know me, that well). If you find this good enough, please post it on your own website, too, just as long as you credit me for it and read let things comply to the OpenContent licence (I don't want to bother writing a license, so I'll just use a well-tested and great license someone else has made :-) ).

Helping hands

These are the people who were as nice as to help me create this key:

Version history

y2000m01d05

  • Chose a new way to arrange the sub-filds of the code: Wrap them in parantheses!

y1999m11d07

  • changed Rs name from race, sub-species to race specific.
  • added all the animal names to Rs
  • changed all variables to upper case start letter (gives more posibilities)

y1999m10d05

  • rearanged the modification keys section
  • changed from & into / (& is not a standard HTML character, and cannot simply be written in a document; / is and can)
  • added race, sub-species (Rs) section
  • rearanged sections in alphabetic order with ot as last option

unknown

  • what you see so far :)

General modificator keys

!
The exclamation sign describes a thing that you are completely sure of. For example, if you know exactly that you are from earth and that your homeland is the amazonian rainforest, you may write HWf4e! to put, that this is completely so. (note: this is optional)
?
In opposition to the exclamation sign, the question mark questions the fact you just stated. For example, if you are not exactly sure if you are from here or some place else, you may write Oh? to state that you think you are from earth, but not sure. (note: this is optional)
>
The greater than sign is more of an arow here. The thing before is how it is now, and after is what you hope for/ believe it to become. Example: R>R+++
/
To show that you are more than one thing (for example you could have more than one homeworld or race you belong to. example: you are an human hosting and elf with an wolven soul: Sh/e/aRScw
({[ and )}]
Not really being modificator keys, parantheses are supposed to wrap the settings for places that can be hard to read otherwise. Use the three types of parantheses to point to how deep you are in a row of parantheses.

  • Ot - Other (please tell us, so we can add you race)

An explanation is needed: This is only to be used if you choose either animal, shifter or were type. The species are subdivided into family classes (latin names) This idea is basically taken from the Furry code. Thank you Capt. Packrat!

  • T - technologic (futuristic)
  • Ot - other

All (exept for a and s) can be combined, numbers can be used to define factors (1 to 5). Example: "HW(F3L2T1)", which means mostly forest with big lakes and use of technology. Note that if this goes for the entire planet, put w as last letter. Example: "HW(Ow)", which means a totally watercovered planet (islands are never found there. Islands kan be represented as "HW(O5P1w)", in which case the entire world is covered with water and small plane-like islands are scattered over the planet). If you originate from earth, then write an e as last letter. Example: "HW(F4e)", which means a very foresty forest (rainforest) on earth.

M - Magic level on homeworld

M 0-9 nine being the highest. M-O means no magic at all. M-5 means medium magic. M-9 is very high magic, your thoughts manefest things....earth would be about a M-2 or M-3 on that scale.

We would need some explanations/ examples here

C - Contact with home world

  • C+++ : What are veils?? i can go there anytime. Or i have my own gate....
  • C++ : I can always communicate and sometimes go there.
  • C+ : I can communicate but not go there.
  • C : limeted communications, spotty at best.
  • C- : I know where home is, but cannot communicate
  • C-- : none, I don't even know where home is.

R - Reality factor

  • R++++ : What do you mean human? I'm Other!
  • R+++ : I have been known to speak my native language to complete strangers
  • R++ : I have been known to speak in my native language to people I know
  • R+ : I tell people straight out
  • R : I mention it sometimes
  • R- : Well, very few people and only my closest friends know
  • R-- : I've never told anyone.
  • R--- : I'm not going to tell anyone, ever!

P - Path in life

  • A - ambassador/diplomat/mediator
  • B - bard/writer/actor in the entertainment field
  • G - guardian/protector/defender/police force
  • H - healer/doctor type...
  • M - mage
  • Me - merchant/storeowner
  • N - nobility/leadership (can be military leadership too)
  • O - outlaw/outcast/not in society
  • P - priest/monk/religious etc.

  • I - i am just here
  • R - refugee/exile
  • S - scientific mission
  • V - visitor/tourist
  • Ot - other/ unknown reason

X - Sex

This part is sometimes a little offending, but it is included, as some people find, that their sexuality is changed when they discover their otherness, or that it, on the opposite, does not change at all... or something like that... well, you can set more than one here, and you must set a sex preference for each choice. Example: For a male human with a female other side, the human part having only pure straight sex and the other part having sex with all sexes as something you do sometimes you would write: "X(M(O(H)P(0)H(+++))/(F(O(R5H1)P(5)H(+)))" . Please note, that you cannot (should not) define your hatred towards a specific sexual orientation by doing something like O(S----) or whatever.

Part 1: Sex - S

  • M - male
  • F - female
  • H - hermafrodite
  • N - sexless (no sex)
  • S - shifter, able to shift between two or more sexes.
  • Ot - other

Part 2: Sexual orientation - O

  • H - human sex. sex with humans
  • R - other sex. sex with others of your species
  • S - sado-masochistic. dominating part
  • M - sado-masochistic. dominated part
  • P - plushofilia. sex with plushies
  • Z - zoophilia. sex with animals
  • Ot - other

This can be rated. For example, if you are mostly to human sex, but also dig other sex a lot you would go "O(H5R3)" (as you can see, this goes from 1 to 5, where 1 is where you would go "ok, just this once" and 5 is "count me in any time!"

Part 3: Sex preferences - P

You define sexual preferences by typing P(X) where X is a number between 0 and 9. 0 is like STRAIGHT!, 5 absolutely bisexual (don't mind at all), and 9 is HOMOSEXUAL!

Part 4: Race hornyness factor - H

  • H-- : not horny at all
  • H- : Sometimes/occasionally
  • H : Average
  • H+ : More often the normal
  • H++ : Very often
  • H+++ : all satyrs and horney dragons:)

F - Food

In this section you define wether you are a meateater, planteater or both. You can also define how specific you are about it. Example: You are a carnivore, but you eat vegetables, but never in your life alone. You would write: F(C++). Example: You are a omnivore, but you preffer meat to plants. F(O+) (as you can see, + is to the meat side and - is to the plant side). Please note, though, that this is not normally practised, as it more often does not work out as well as thought to (either for you or the reader).

  • C - carnivore (meateater)
  • O - omnivore (both)
  • H - herbivore (planteater)
  • X - energy consumer
  • Ot - other

Example of an OtherKey

Well, here's my own otherkey :)

OK0(S(WE)Rs(CW)A(L)O(T/D)Sp(H)Hw(F3L2T1)M(4)C(--)R(+++)P(S)W(S) X(M(O(HRS)P(4)H(+++))/(F(O(HRSPOt)P(0)H(++))F(O(+)))

Or you can look at this slighly modified, slicker and nicer-to-look-at code. Same code, just that I've used more correct layout methods to make it more easily read.

OK0 S(WE)Rs(CW)A(L)O(T/D)Sp(H)Hw(F3L2T1)M(4) C--R+++P(S)W(S)X(M{O[HRS]P4H+++}/F{O[HRSPOt]P0H++})F(O+)
