Title : Gaffa Quake Edition
Filename: GaffaQ.zip
Version : 1.2 (actually 2.0.1 (the first version was only available for about 5
weeks (it was to un-precise), but DukeGaffa is ver 1.2 so...)
Date : 02-20-1998
Author : CyberWolf/ DK (Dan Jensen, Dark Matter Co.)
E-mail : cyberwolf_dk@hotmail.com
Credits : Zippo and Dr. Viper:
For making the original Gaffa.map for Duke3D. The Ultimate DukeMatch
level (included in this pack for U to check it out. It made an
incarnate Quake player play Duke3D!) Great work dudes!
And for debugging the level (WOOPS!!!)
          David Jewsbury:
For making StoneLess. The one and only FREEWARE quake map editor
Anti Credits: PC Player:
For NOT putting the txt files with the maps. Going for both Duke3D,
Quake, Red Alert and all other games they have levels for! BAD!!!
Jonathan Abraham (aka Shambler aka Procedure): For making a lavagun,
that works as bad as the one I got, AND RELEASING IT! I sure hope
he has gotten it fixed by now... (I got hold of an old one)

Short map describtion: Conversion of original Gaffa.map
An arena with the zippo logo in the middle. Walk-abouts around the arena
and a couple of underwater areas. Totally cool design. Can be compared with
DM1 in playability (but more complex tactics are available for Gaffa.map.
   See below)
.-=The Ultimate DukeMatch level is now here to take over Quake!=-.

Long map describtion:

This is an advanced Quake expansion. It has taken some things from Duke3D and
put it into the Quake environment. While we wait for Duke Nukem Forever, we
thought, that we just might make the level that made a Quake dude play Duke3D
into a Quake expansion, for every Quake fanatic to see it. Now it has expanded
itself, and we now have both a lavagun (here you are, Zippo), and something like
the Duke3D .RTS (Ridicule sound files). If you want to change the sounds, make a
directory in the Gaffa directory (where you put the .pak file) named as follows:

sound\duke

and put some sound files in there.
The sound files should be named:

0.wav
1.wav
2.wav
3.wav
4.wav
5.wav
6.wav
7.wav
8.wav
9.wav

For information on, how to play the files, see below (in the "Extra Commands"
section)

--
To honor our friend, Zippo, who had to go somewhere else (no, he's not dead or
something), we have put inside the pak a special thing: A lavagun. Spitting fire
and destruction everywhere, it is his picture, all right!

SMALL NOTE!!!
-------------
Gaffa.map Quake Edition is made using WinQuake and you ought therefore use it, too

Installation

Unzip the gaffaq.zip in an empty directory. Then make a directory under Quake
named Gaffa (or something similar) and copy the pak0.pak file in there. Then
run quake with the well known switch:

quake -game gaffa

or whatever you called the directory. To make the game run maybe just a little
faster under Windows95, run it with the -winmem and -winlock switches (there
are options (required) for the -winmem switch. Read the Quake Manual file for
info on this).

When you want to play Gaffa.map, just ~ and type "map gaffa" and get ready to
run. Please notice. This is SHOULD be a server expansion, but I make no
guaranties. Of cause, everybody would have to have the WAVE files and the
Gaffa.bsp file to use the prog copletely, so it might just be easier to use the
.pak file.

BTW: The .MAP file included is NOT the Quake map source for the BSP file. It
is the original Duke Nukem 3D map file. Do NOT(!) try to compile it. Now you
have been warned...
