It was created as the project of group d103a in the fall of 2006, and the task was simple: Create a system which would allow students of a project group at university to enter literature, and to state reasons why this literature is relevant. d103a decided to expand on this and create a system to discuss that relevancy, and to keep track of it past borders such as project groups, semesters and even departments.
Thus was born SCRAML, a client/server based system for the discussion of and management of project-related literature. Oh yes, and you can get BibTeX files out of it as well ;)
